Walthamstow School wins third consecutive championship

Walthamstow Hall School has won the KSSA Individual Swimming Championships for the third year in a row. After a year of absence due to the pandemic, teams from 16 schools competed in the girls’ event at Hartsdown Pool, Margate on Saturday 16 January. The top three teams were:

• Walthamstow Hall (64 pts)
• Dane Court Grammar School (51 pts)
• Sevenoaks School (40 pts)

Walthamstow Hall placed in the top three in nine of their 15 events, winning three gold medals, four silver medals and two bronze medals.

Those representing the school were: Imogen Myles, Isabel Froud, Sophie Carr, Emily Stone, Maisie Chambers, Freja Ekstrom, Danielle van der Merwe, Iris Whitlock, Gabriela Krysiak Triguirinho, Alice Stone, Fern Gray, Ruth Godfrey, Imogen Stoddart, Jasmine Wallace, Millie Childs, Edith Norton and Lillie Chambers.

This competition proved to be highly competitive with many close races.

The gold medallists were: Imogen Myles in the 100m Junior Breaststroke, Imogen Stoddart in the 100m Senior Breaststroke and Lilie Chambers in the 100m Senior Butterfly. The Silver medallists were: Imogen Miles in the 100m Junior Backstroke, Millie Childs in the 100m Senior Backstroke and 200m Individual Medley and Edith Norton in the 100m Senior Freestyle. Bronze medallists: Imogen Stoddart in the 200m Senior Individual Medley, and Edith Norton in the 100m Senior Butterfly.

Walthamstow Hall’s Head Swim Coach, Mr Richard Smith, said: “All the swimmers representing the School performed outstandingly. Winning the overall girl’s trophy for the third consecutive year is a remarkable achievement for everyone who participated and for the school.”
