Sevenoaks Primary delighted with Gold Sports Mark

The achievement of receiving the Gold Sports Mark for the second year in a row underlines the important role that sport plays at Sevenoaks Primary School, with many children taking advantage of the wide range of sports offered both within class and in extra-curricular clubs.

Strong relationships with local sports clubs such as Sevenoaks Tennis Centre and Sevenoaks Hockey Club, along with membership of the local sports association and Knole Sports Partnership led by Clare Strange, help provide support and a myriad of opportunities for both competitive and inclusive opportunities for all.

For a number of years Sevenoaks Primary School have built up and benefited from the support of external clubs.

In particular, Sevenoaks Tennis Centre and Helene Jackson, who deliver curriculum and extra-curricular tennis programs within the school. As a result of this collaboration they are the current Kent School Games mini-red tennis champions for the second year in a row.

Sevenoaks Hockey Club, in partnership with Duncan Parnis and The Hockey Academy, is another valuable curriculum and extra-curricular partnership providing an inclusive approach for all.
This culminated in the school entering the U11 Boys Kent Hockey Cup last December. Following victory at this event, the team then went on to win the regional level of this competition, an incredible achievement.

Gymnastics is another extremely popular sport with over 70 children taking advantage of their extra-curricular programme and over the years they have enjoyed success at local, regional and national level.

This academic year has already seen children representing the school in a variety of events including multi-skills, rugby league, football, cross country, Aqua Splash and Change for Life.
In addition, they are looking forward to starting their defence of the Kent School Games Basketball title in December as well as participating in Netball and Handball events.

A large part of their success is due to the incredible support of a wide range of people including parents, local clubs, staff, a supportive PE team and, not least of all, the Knole Sports Partnership who provide such incredible opportunities.
