Sevenoaks ladies steer themselves back on track against Surbiton

For their fourth game back after the winter break, Sevenoaks’ Ladies 1’s welcomed Surbiton 2’s to Hollybush Lane.

The match started slowly for Sevenoaks, with Surbiton scoring two goals in the first half with some well executed corner routines. Sevenoaks answered in the third quarter, producing their first goal of the game with JoJo Blunt volleying the ball into the back of the net from the far post.

Moving into the fourth quarter there was still a lot of action to come from both teams. Surbiton converted another penalty corner leaving Sevenoaks with a tough 3-1 scoreline to fight their way back from.

However, this challenge was certainly met by the home side, who produced four more big goals to end the match. A high quality drag flick from Tash Brennan, followed by Sophie Maunder with a goal from the baseline, and a scramble at the goal mouth leading to a touch in on the line from Kate Faulkner left Sevenoaks ahead as they were awarded a final corner in the closing minutes.

Another strong drag flick from Tash Brennan ended the game with a 5-3 win to Sevenoaks.

Overall this week it was a big show of self belief and determination from Sevenoaks and the Ladies 1’s should be looking forward to playing Canterbury on Saturday.
