Sevenoaks knock Chelmsford for eight!

Sevenoaks ladies 1st team had an emphatic 8-0 win against bottom of the table Chelmsford on Sunday.

Sevenoaks had chances early on in the game but couldn’t quite put the finishing touch goal bound until Kate Reynolds opened the scoring. An initial shot from Cathy Nicholson rebounded to Reynolds and the ball was lifted calmly into the net.

The home side were spurred into action and a goal quickly followed from Maddie Thompson who chased down a through ball and managed to turn it goal wards. A Chelmsford defender, in her attempt to clear the ball, deflected the ball behind her goalkeeper to make it 2-0.

Just before the halftime break a penalty corner won by Sophie Crosley was finished by Jen Wilson.  The home side went into half time buoyant but aware there could create more goal scoring opportunities. They didn’t have to wait long as Kate Reynolds scored her 2nd goal a minute into the half after neat link up play with Jess Denniff. The fifth goal of the game came from a penalty corner won by captain Katy Warrington and Florencia Zapulla was on hand to unleash a superb routine.

Only a minute later Denniff scored to make in 6-0 and was then able to create a 2 on 1 with the Chelmsford goalkeeper for Alice O’Connell to score the 7th for oaks. The last goal after the game came in the 65th minute and completed Reynolds hat trick for the day. A pin point pass from Susie Rowe found Reynolds unmarked in the D and her deft touch gave the keeper no chance.

Sevenoaks are home next Saturday to top of the league Hampstead and Westminster at 5pm. All supporters are very welcome to cheer of the Ladies at Hollybush Lane.
