Sevenoaks Hockey Club U12 Girls take silver at Nationals

Sevenoaks Hockey Club’s juniors have had a fantastic season with an abundance of successes in both regional and national competitions. Saturday 11th May saw the U12 Girls head to Nottingham for their National Finals Day.

Teamwork and camaraderie certainly earned these girls their final position in this tournament. Their pre-tournament warm-up consisted of TikToks, singing and dancing, as well as the usual dynamic and skills based warm-up.

The Sevenoaks team ruled their group, finishing top of their group with a clean sheet, beating Slazenger (5-0), Marlow (5-0), and Repton (9-0). Goalkeeper Elisabetta needs to be commended for her clean sheet in the group stage in such a high profile tournament – she was outstanding in goal!

The Sevenoaks girls were absolutely thrilled, albeit nervous, to play in the England Hockey In2hockey National final, an achievement that few will experience in their hockey careers. The final didn’t go their way, and they narrowly missed out on gold to become the National silver medalists. This is wonderful achievement, and the girls and their coaches should be very proud.

The girls played superb hockey throughout the tournament – a testament to their hard work, positivity, friendship, and trust. Chloe was the highest goal-scorer of the tournament, with Sadhbh and Annalie finishing 4th and 5th highest respectively. It was a very exciting day for Sevenoaks Hockey Club, and the future is certainly bright for those who wear purple.

The club thanked their coaches Orlagh Nelson and Jamie Nelson, and managers Francesca Frosini and Antony O’Dwyer.
