On New Year’s Day dozens took part in a 5km ‘Beat the Cock’ loop around the village of Ide Hill. Now in its 7th year, the fundraising event organised by Liz Easterbrook, involves runners, joggers and Nordic walkers racing against the clock, with the finish line the village pub, The Cock Inn.
The event raised over £800 with the funds going towards a new village defibrillator, that will have 24 hour access for the local community.
This years winners were; fastest female, Ella Baker, fastest male, Tom Alllan, fastest female nordic walker, Andrea Michelmore and fastest male Nordic walker David Booker. Each winner was awarded a ‘Cock’ Trophy and cookies donated by local baker Lillian’s Kitchen.
