Nearly 500 people took part in the Run, Walk or Push against Dementia event at Knole park on Sunday morning. Friends and families got together to take part in the second event at the National Trust site in Sevenoaks, either running alongside their dogs, pushing their children in pushchairs or simply taking a gentle stroll through the grounds.
After taking 10 minutes off his time from last years event, Leader of Sevenoaks District Council, Cllr Peter Fleming, who was running for the second time with his dog Skippy, joked: “We managed to shave 10 minutes off our time today, due to a lot less stopping to sniff, and that was just me”.
Local businesses also organised teams including Thackray Williams Solicitors who sponsored the event. Rivermere Care Home also sent out a team including one member dressed up as Mr Blobby.
The event, organised by Sevenoaks District Council, raises money for the Sevenoaks Area Dementia Friendly Community, which supports local people who are living with dementia and their carers. They help and advise on the health and wellbeing of people living with dementia, making front line businesses aware of dementia issues and running dementia cafés across the District.
