Hever Primary School pay Lizzy a visit

Many will remember watching Lizzy Yarnold win her second gold medal when she raced down the track in PyeongChang in February. None more so than pupils from Hever Primary School whose headteacher, Joanna Stratton, allowed the children to have TV’s on during their lessons.

The importance of sport, and the access to it, is something Miss Stratton takes very seriously, and the Winter Olympics were simply something that could be accessed easily. She said: “The children got so involved, it was fantastic. They learnt about sport but also the culture in South Korea”.

So imagine walking into school one morning and being told: “We’re off to see Lizzy Yarnold today!”.

Miss Stratton had organised for the School Council, made up of around 7/8 pupils, to jump on their school minibus and head to Swanley, where they got a prime position to meet their new hero.

Miss Stratton even bought ice lollies! Wow, why didn’t we have teachers like her?
