A Golden Weekend For Aquaoaks 

On Sunday the 25th of June, Aquaoaks Artistic Swimming competed in the Kent County Championships. Aquaoaks were excited to take 64 swimmers to the K2 in Crawley, to compete against all of the clubs in Kent.

After a hugely successful day, Aquaoaks were thrilled to bring home 113 gold, 32 silver and 13 bronze medals.

The club had a clean sweep in the combo team event, winning gold in the Division 1 Under 12, Under 15 and 13-18 routines as well as gold in the Division 2 Under 12 and 13-18 categories. In addition to this, the club entered a second team in the under 12 category, who achieved second place and in the 13-18 category, who achieved 5th place. In the solo section, Evelyn Fornasier achieved 1st place in the Under 12 Category. Then in the duets, the club brought home gold in both the Under 12 and 13-15 age groups, and bronze in the Division 2 13-18 duet event. 

In the individual figures, Aquaoaks dominated the competition winning 1st in the age 12U Novice category and 1st, 2nd & 3rd in the 13-18 novice category. In addition to this, the club’s swimmers placed 1st & 3rd in Grade 0 12u,  3rd in Grade 0 13+, 3rd in Grade 1 12U, 2nd in Grade 2 12U, 1st & 3rd in Grade 2 13+, 1st & 2nd in Grade 3 12U, 2nd in Grade 3 13+ and 1st & 3rd in the Grade 4 15+ category. To top off an incredible day, Aquaoaks’ Anje Hanekom won the trophy for Best Newcomer in Kent and Erin Beard won the Kent Progression Trophy.

Head Coach Maisie Wright said “I’m so proud of all of our swimmers, we couldn’t have asked for a better set of results. After months of hard work it’s lovely to watch the swimmers get rewarded for their dedication to training. You earn your medals at practice, you just pick them up at competitions!”

The club are now looking forward to their final competition of the year, the National Combo Cup on the 8th of July.
