7OaksTriClub make difficult decision with enforced pool closure

As many people will know, Sevenoaks swimming pool is currently closed and the guys at 7OaksTriClub have had to make the tough decision to change their format of the race this year to a Duathlon.

7OaksTriClub host their annual race in May of every year, which is normally a Triathlon format (400m swim, 26km ride and 5km run) based in and around the beautiful settings of Knole Park.

Unfortunately this year, due to the unforeseen closure of the Leisure Centre, they have had to switch to a Duathlon format. The plan is for two 3.5 km run legs in Knole Park, with an unchanged cycle leg between the two runs.

The organisers are all too aware that some participants will be disappointed with the change of format and those who have already signed up but now wish to opt out can follow the clubs refund procedures.

However, 7OaksTriClub also intend to use the day to get across to the ‘powers that be’ how urgent and important it is to the local community to get Sevenoaks Leisure Centre back in operation, and are asking for you to lend your voice by going along whether as a spectator or a participant.

To join them at this wonderful local Sevenoaks event please go to their website at www.7oakstriclub.co.uk/7oakstriathlon/triinfo.

• 7OaksTriClub is a friendly BTF affiliated triathlon club based in Sevenoaks. They have a busy weekly schedule of training sessions including a core programme consisting of four session swims, a coached run and three club rides; coached strength & conditioning and indoor Zwift/Turbo sessions in the off-season.
