Young Sevenoaks swimmers are triple Kent Champions

Imogen Myles, aged just 13 has become the Junior & Open Kent’s Champion in 50m, 100m and 200m breaststroke. These were phenomenal swims setting Sevenoaks Swimming Club and Kent County records.

Imogen, swimming in the 14 year old girls age category, swam the 50m breaststroke in 33.16 seconds; the 100m in 1.13.56 and the 200m in 2.37.53. She received gold medals in each and was also awarded the trophies for the fastest swimmer in the Junior Girls as well as the Open/16+ category. Congratulations to Imogen, a Triple Kent’s Champions!

Given that 2021/22 was Imogen’s first main competitive season with Sevenoaks, this is a truly amazing achievement. Imogen competed in the English Summer Nationals last year and took silver medals in both the 50m and 200m breaststroke events and is hoping for more success at the Southeast Regional Championships in April and May but ahead of this, she will be representing the Southeast and her school, Walthamstow Hall, at the English Schools National Inter-Divisional Team Event in Coventry in March.

Imogen said: “I am really happy with how last year went and my focus for the start of this season was to win gold in the 200m at Kents and get some strong personal bests in each event. I am so happy I managed to do that and make my club and coaches proud. To win overall across every age group for girls in breaststroke was a huge surprise and honour.
“It was great to be back at the London Aquatic Centre with my friends and coaches, it makes all the training worthwhile. Hopefully this season will be as good, if not better, than last year and I am excited to see where it takes me.”

Eva makes Triple Open Kent’s Champion too
Sevenoaks Swimming Club’s Eva Okaro has won the trophies for Open (16+) Champion at the Kent County Championship 2023 in 50 Freestyle; 100 Freestyle and 50 Fly.
Albert Branch was also awarded with the open trophy for his time in the 200 fly event.

Kents 2023
Sevenoaks Swimming Club were delighted that 71 swimmers qualified for and competed in this year’s Kent County Championships. Many were competing for the first time, like Dominic aged 10 who has only been in the Club for a year and qualified to swim in three races at the London Aquatic Centre. All that attended thoroughly enjoyed the experience of competing with many achieving personal bests, and picking up medals and silverware.
