Weekly Report: Hockey clubs enjoy a winning weekend both home and away

Sevenoaks Hockey Club men’s 1st XI fought off a second half comeback from Oxford Hawks on Saturday afternoon to win their second league match of the season 3-2.

Sevenoaks sailed into a 3-0 first half lead against their previously unbeaten visitors in the England Hockey Mens Hockey League Division One South

Meanwhile, over at Hockey Club Knole Park, the women’s 1st XI won yet again, this time on the road at Herne Bay 2nd, scoring 19 goals to no reply.

This storming result keeps HC Knole Park’s unbeaten run intact with a glorious goal difference of +64 after just four matches.

HC Knole Park’s men’s 1st XI however suffered their second defeat of the season going down 3-7 at home to Canterbury Griffins.

On to football and Sevenoaks Town’s trip to Bracknell in the FA Trophy competition was a short lived affair as they succumbed to two second half goals, Sevenoaks receive a losing payment of £575 and will now re-concentrate on the league when they host Hastings United this coming Saturday.

Elsewhere, Corinthian FC lost their perfect start to the season in the Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division, after going down 3-4 against Sheppey United.

Twice going behind, Corinthian held onto a 3-2 lead from the 60th minute, but a cruel amount of injury time saw them concede goals in the 99th and 100th minutes of the match.

Emmanuel Oloyede scored all three Corinthian goals. The result leaves them in third place with a game in hand over current league leaders Tunbridge Wells FC.

Over in the Kent County Football League Premier Division, and there was a shock win for Ide Hill as they beat high-flying Fleetdown United 3-1, Kanan Fitton, Columb Grant and George Kensell scoring Ide Hill’s goals. Otford United meanwhile couldn’t keep their winning streak going, losing at home to Staplehurst Monarchs United 1-3. Otford face local rivals Crockenhill at home this Wednesday evening at 7.30pm.

Chipstead got back to winning ways in Division 1 West, with goals from Jack Highwood, Mitchell Hill and Jonathan Shea (2) to see off a challenge from Belvedere.

Meanwhile, Halstead United kept their place at the top of Division 3 West with a well-deserved 5-2 win over Welling Town Reserves. Matthew Folorunso, Ashley Mullins, Marcus Ekeh (2) and Junior Gyabi with the goals for Halstead.

And finally, Ide Hill Reserves eased to a 2-0 win over Lokomotiv Canterbury in Division 3 Central & East with goals either side of the break from Jordan Hounsell and Tyler Twyford.
