Swanley Town Council has finally secured planning permission requirements and is excited to announce the commencement of work to transform a disused golf driving range behind The Olympic Centre in Beechenlea Lane, into a new exciting home for Swanley Rugby Club.
The £275,000 sport investment project by Swanley Town Council will convert the derelict site into a new home for the club, complete with a rugby pitch, an additional training pitch, and enhanced changing room and toilet facilities. The new facilities will additionally provide Swanley Bowls Club with much-needed toilet facilities close to their club hut and pitch.
Furthermore, the creation of a new rugby pitch at the Olympic will also release one of the sports pitches and changing rooms at the Swanley Recreation Ground, providing more football facilities for the Swanley football adult and youth teams.

Sevenoaks and Swanley MP Laura Trott commented: “Getting to this point has been a long journey, with many challenges to overcome, and whilst I have provided support to the club throughout, I want to say a huge thank you to Cllr Michael Horwood who has continued to be the driving force, using his planning expertise and deploying his tremendous advocacy to overcoming the problems which arose.
“Huge congratulations to Swanley Rugby Club, and all at Swanley Town Council, Sevenoaks District Council and Kent County Council who have made this possible. Swanley Rugby Club does so much for the local community and it is really important that they have the rugby facilities they, and the town of Swanley, deserve.”
