The Sevenoaks District Sports Council (SDSC) celebrated recipients who have received a grant over the last year with an awards evening at the Sevenoaks Indoor Bowls Club on Friday 26th August.
Officiating on the evening was Council Chairman Edward Oatley MBE who gave a brief talk about each individual before interviewing them in front of a live audience.
In the past year, SDSC has handed out over £2,000 in grants to individuals and clubs who can demonstrate a level of expertise in their respective sport. The grants can be used for anything from travel expenses or subscriptions to new equipment such as trainers or shin pads.
The Chairman of Sevenoaks District Council, Cllr Avril Mitcham, was on hand to present the awards to the recipients on the evening. Those present were: Joel Downes from Westerham Cricket Club, Jorge Fowler (Karate), Tilly King (Roller Hockey), Indira Sharma (Yoga), Ishwar Sharma (Yoga) and Steve Wells from Crockenhill Petanque Club.
Other recipients of grants in 2022 who were not available to attend were Hugo Coquelin (Tennis), Issy Fassnidge (Skeleton), Otford Netball Club and Paddy Walton (Hockey).
