Sevenoaks Women’s 1s returned to Hollybush Lane for another home fixture, this time against newcomers to the league Southgate.
The team started well converting a penalty corner in the first quarter through Lily Elliott. The game became closer and some end-to-end hockey was played before Emma Barrett deflected the ball in after a lovely baseline run from Tash Brennan.
Southgate came out fighting in the second half and started strong, putting Sevenoaks under a lot of pressure. They were rewarded for their tenacity when they scored in the 3rd quarter to make it 2-1.
However, not long after this some great passing and composure down the left hand side resulted in a composed finish from Maddie Thompson.
Sevenoaks finished the game well scoring a final goal after some lovely link up play between Barrett and Maddie Thompson in which the former fired from the top of the D to make the final result 4-1 to Sevenoaks.
They travel to Team Bath Buccaneers next week with a 12.30pm pushback.
