Over 400 sizzle in the sunshine at Charity Cup Finals

Sevenoaks residents turned out in force on Good Friday to watch two scintillating Charity Cup Finals played at the Bourne Stadium, Greatness Park, the home of Sevenoaks Town FC.

Chipstead and Tatsfield Rovers both played some fantastic football, and made it a day-to-forget for Ide Hill, as they lifted the Senior and Junior Charity Cups respectively.

At the start of a sizzling weekend, over 400 people were at Sevenoaks’ ground for the 10.00am kick off between Ide Hill Reserves and Tatsfield Rovers for the Junior Final, and they certainly weren’t disappointed with the match as Tatsfield overcame a strong Ide Hill to win the match 4-3.

Two goals from Marcus Upton helped Tatsfield to the win and the Cup with other goals coming from Casito Jimenez and Tony Walpole.

In the second final of the day two Kent County League teams, Chipstead and Ide Hill, played out another fantastic final in front of changed crowd at 2.00pm.

Around another 400 people watched as Ide Hill went 2-0 up before Chipstead hit back in another great final to finally win 3-2. Chipstead have had to settle for third place in the KCL Division One West this season, but having beaten Ide Hill twice in the league, this made it a treble of wins over their local rivals.

The famous Charity Cup awaits Chipstead Football Club as they became the 2019 Senior winners.

Ide Hill manager, Paul McDonagh said: “It was a disappointing day for Ide Hill as they crashed out of both finals, but with Kent County Premier League football on the horizon next season, and the Reserves looking to win the Sevenoaks & District Division Three title, it has still been a great season for the club”.
