Olympic ambitions for 10-year-old riding star

Show jumping talent, Lexie, is aiming high, with the ultimate dream to become an International and Olympic show jumper. The St Johns Primary School pupil has been riding since the age of five and teamed with her pony ‘Wellie’ the pair are already racking up the awards.

The talented duo achieved a Bronze medal representing England in the 10 and under team last summer at the Welsh Home Pony show, held in Wales. The pair also came an incredible 3rd out of 130 individuals in the Nations, representing Kent and 5th in the South East at the Nationals.

These achievements are even more remarkable given that Lexie has only owned her 13.2 pony (show jumping name Meadowbrook Wizard) for just a year.

Lexie, who is also a member of the Pony Club, stables ‘Wellie’ locally at a livery yard in Otford, where the pair are trained by international show jumping ace Yazmin Pinchen.

”Yazmin has jumped at international level, so she can hopefully give me some tops tips!” said the young star.

In addition to regular training, Lexie also competes as often as she can. “We travel the country and do lots of stay away shows, but sadly the sport isn’t just about talent.” Due to a family illness, which has led to financial constraints, the pair have been unable to compete in as many competitions as they would have liked.

“My mum has had a year of treatment and thanks to my family, I managed to compete, just not as much”.

Sponsorship Opportunity
The family are now seeking a local business or individual to come forward and sponsor Lexie.

“I’m looking for a sponsor to help make me the absolute best I can be” said the dedicated youngster.

Lexie’s mum, Sarah, said “Any business that would like to sponsor Lexie, would have their company name printed on the coats, rugs, saddle pads and horsebox”.

Sevenoaks Sports magazine will also avidly follow the pair’s progress and we will continue to feature their future success stories! All interested parties should contact Sevenoaks Sports magazine who will pass on your details to the family.
