Local firms to take on the Three Peaks Challenge

Over the weekend of 14th and 15th July, a local team from Warners Solicitors and Handelsbanken will take on the Three Peaks Challenge. The team, 10 hikers and 3 support drivers will travel to Fort William to start their challenge at Ben Nevis, followed by Scafell Pike and finally Snowden; all within 24 hours.

It’s a demanding challenge, both mentally and physically, involving both determination and stamina. Sleep deprivation will play a part and training walks have been organised in readiness for each walker to tackle the ascent and descent of each mountain. Despite the huge challenge the team are determined to succeed and have set themselves an ambitious target of raising £10,000 for the charity West Kent Mind.

Team member Richard Theobald said: “Taking on this challenge is both really exciting and really daunting! We are real mixed bag of ability some members of the team are very experienced hikers and some are complete novices. It’s going to take a lot of motivation and discipline to make sure we all attend the training walks especially as the weather starts to get colder.”

Another team member, Ellie Norman, added: “We are using this challenge to raise money and awareness for West Kent Mind (WKM). We all firmly believe that mental health is just as important as physical health. With our busy modern lives it can often get ignored or overlooked. WKM do an amazing amount of good work with adults who have encountered mental health issues and educate local children on how to deal with and recognise their emotions.”
