Knole Park golf club nominated for England’s Best Golf Course 2020

Knole Park Golf club were celebrating recently, having been nominated for England’s Best Golf Course 2020 in the World Golf Awards 2020.

Sister organisation to ‘World Travel Awards’ and now in their 7th year, the World Golf Awards serves to celebrate and reward excellence in golf tourism. Categories for the awards cover the entire spectrum of the golf tourism industry, and range from leading golf courses to golf destinations, resorts and tour operators.

A total of 47 English golf clubs have been nominated for the prestigious award, with the winner being announced at a red carpet gala event held on the 29th October, in Dubai.

Knole Park is regarded as Kent’s number 1 inland course and regularly named in the top 100 courses in England. Set within 1,000 acres of magnificent parkland and home to 350 wild deer, the course was designed in 1924 by J F Abercromby. The bold architect made dramatic use of the undulating terrain to create a distinctive and memorable course.

The course is also home to the Kent Cob Open competition and has also hosted the British Senior Amateur, the English Girls championships and the Tillman Trophy in recent years. The Tillman Trophy will be returning to Knole Park in 2021.

The club also provides excellent facilities, including a driving range, putting green, pro shop, bar and restaurant.

On hearing the news of their nomination, Knole Park’s marketing manager, Lucy Clark told us: “We are delighted to have been nominated by World Golf Awards for England’s Best Golf Course alongside some of the top courses in the country.

“This prestigious award scheme gives recognition to those excelling in the golf-tourism industry and we are incredibly excited to be included in the nominations. It gives us all a much needed positive boost in these difficult times.”

Voting in the World Golf Awards has now opened, with votes cast by professionals working within the golf industry, but also by the public.
