Knole Park Golf Club celebrates being ranked 76th course in England

Knole Park Golf Club received positive news in January after lifting their prestigious ranking by Golf World magazine, of the Top 100 courses in England 2021, to a wonderful 76th position, putting them alongside some of the best courses in the country.

Club Secretary Neil Statham commented, “We’re delighted to grow from 100th place in 2019 to 76th this year, ranking us alongside some excellent courses in England.  This is very encouraging news and it reflects the hard work of our Head Greenkeeper Kris Durrant and his team.  With continual improvements planned over the next couple of years, we aim to advance further in Golf World’s next ranking in 2023.”

When the club reopened after the first lockdown June they saw a huge demand on the course to play and a surge of new visitors to the course.

Marketing Manager, Lucy Clark: “The sport is perfect for the new restrictions we have to live under and subsequently we have a waiting list for potential new members.

We introduced a new IT system, new website and tee booking system to rise to the challenge and streamlined our new membership process.”

They have been proactive in the last six months and used the time on worthy causes. They played their part in thanking the NHS heroes by offering a free round of golf or a lesson with their Professional team. In October they hosted a charity event Captained by Len Goodman, who presented a Sunshine Coach to a local disabled school and raised over £17,000 for the Golf Trust who help deliver Golf lessons to disabled and disadvantaged children nationwide. In December Knole achieved the SafeGafe accreditation from England Golf, demonstrating the club’s commitment to safeguarding children and adults at risk in the sport of golf.

Michele Desmond, Chairlady of the Membership Committee: “We’ve been working on making sure the Club is equally attractive to all ages and genders and offers a family-friendly environment.  I’m excited that we are now agreeing a ‘Women in Golf Charter’ for the Club, supported by the R&A and England Golf, with the ultimate goal of enabling more women and girls to maximise their potential at all levels of the sport.”

The club has a variety of new projects planned and this is an exciting time for their new Operations Manager, John Somerville-Hendrie, to come on board.

Knole Park Golf Club boasts excellent facilities which include a driving range, short game and bunker area and practice putting greens. On site their fully stocked pro shop offers club fittings, lessons and a wide range of other equipment. The welcoming clubhouse with a bar and separate restaurant can host private dining and weddings.
