Hockey Club Knole Park have been crowned double National Champions at the Super 6s Indoor Championships as their Girls U18s and U16s beat tough opposition to take home their titles. The finals were held at the prestigious Derby Arena on Sunday 12th January and saw the U18s take on Wimbledon in their final.
Before that, they had to stop Wakefield in their semi-final and three quick first half goals from Boadicea Cannon, Evie Smith, and Darcy Edwards ensured that they would make the final, winning 3-0.
Into the final and Evie Smith was once again on the scoresheet, opening up for a field goal in the 6th minute of the match. And it would remain that way until Wimbledon equalised halfway through the second half. In a tense finish to the match, it was left to Boadicea Cannon in the dying minutes of the match to put away a penalty corner for a 2-1 win and the Championship.
Later on, and coming off the back of a comprehensive 4-0 win over Reading in the semi-finals, the Girls U16s’ Georgie Owen and Elisa Hippe both scored in an unbelievable second half 60 seconds to record a stunning 2-0 win over their opponents to give them the Girls U16 title.
HC Knole Park commented on X: “The girls were absolutely superb throughout! We are so proud of you all! Well done to all the teams and umpires and thank you to @EnglandHockey for organising a great event!”
Meanwhile, HC Knole Park’s Womens team narrowly missed out on promotion to the indoor Premier Division after losing heavily to eventually league winners Clifton Robinsons.
Sevenoaks also remain in Division One for another year after beating relegation on the last day with a 4-4 draw against Leicester City.
