Kingsdown Racers Football Club’s first team had not lost or drawn a competitive match since the start of the year. However, on Saturday they lost 3-2 to Sevenoaks Weald in the Smiths Intermediate Cup sponsored by Sevenoaks Sports, to record their first loss in nearly 10 months.
The impressive winning run started in January 2017 and the team have scored over 70 goals whilst only conceding just 20. During that same period they have won the Smith’s Junior Cup, the Fisher Shield and the Sevenoaks & District League Division 3 title on the final game of last season.
Luke Martin, Kingsdown Racers first team captain, said: “The team doesn’t know when it is beaten, we work hard in training and the whole squad gives 100 % on a matchday showing resilience and quality, we are well organised by our manager Bob Short and he does a great job in preparing and managing the team also a mention to our club linesman and regular goalscorer Dory Shead”.
They still sit top of the S&DFL Division 2, and with only a few weeks left of 2017, it was hard to see them slipping up.
