Kings Hill FC proud to play FA Cup Football

Kings Hill FC are proud to play FA Cup Football after back-to-back promotions for the Women’s 1st team.

Kings Hill Football Club is a popular grassroots football club located in Kent. The club has over 67 teams offering players of all ages and abilities the opportunity to play football. In 2023 Kings Hill was the Kent FA’s grassroots club of the year in recognition of the amazing work done by the volunteer workforce to provide football for its growing local
community.

The club play their home fixtures at Kings Hill Sports Park, which provides fantastic facilities for grassroots football. All 67 teams play at the site which also boasts tennis courts and a trim trail.

Kings Hill FC was formed in 2003, and the number of teams has grown steadily since then.

The club now have adult teams for men, women and disability players. Our women’s team was started in 2021, entering the league in September of that year. This was the culmination of a long project to develop the whole female section to ensure it was able to promote youth players into an adult team.

Over the past two seasons results on the pitch for the women’s 1st team have been exceptional, led by their inspirational player-manager Charlotte Abbott (Aka Chabs), the side has secured back-to-back promotions and this season will play in the South East Counties Womens Football League Kent Premier division. The league has some well-known clubs from around the county including Maidstone United, Tonbridge Angels, Sevenoaks Town and Margate.

In addition to some stellar league fixtures this season, the side is also now eligible to enter the FA Cup, which they did back in May. The draw for the first qualifying round took place last Friday with Kings Hill in the hat for the very first time. Their hopes for a home draw were successful when they were pulled out to face Croydon FC. The team will become the first ever Kings Hill team to enter and play in the FA Cup when the game takes place at the Sports Park on the 1st of September.

“We are hugely excited that our women’s 1st team will have the opportunity to play in the FA Cup this season”, says Andrew Boxer, Kings Hill’s Chairman. “We have been working hard on and off the pitch to build successful teams across the whole club and it’s fantastic that we have a home tie for our club’s very first FA Cup tie. We hope this won’t be the last time Kings Hill enter the cup and we hope our men’s team have similar opportunities in the future.”

Barry Gethin, Kings Hill’s Head of Adult Football, added: “The club has seen tremendous growth over the last 20 years and it’s a fantastic achievement to have the women’s team representing us in the FA Cup this year, we believe both men and women’s teams should have these opportunities and we are currently working closely with TMActive, the local Parish Council and Helen Grant our newly appointed MP to try and secure the necessary improvements that are needed for the men to be in a position to enter in future years.”

The game which is expected to Kick off at 2 pm, at the sports park, will be free to view as the park currently doesn’t have the facilities to take a gate, something that will hopefully change with the proposed improvements over the coming seasons.

The club hope that the local community get behind our team and come down to the Sports Park for a historic moment in Kings Hill’s history.
