Hockey clubs shine despite mixed fortunes

The latest round of fixtures across England’s hockey leagues showcased resilience and determination, with teams from Sevenoaks delivering some standout performances alongside a few challenging encounters.

Sevenoaks women’s first team showed grit this week. A 2-2 draw with Slough was marked by a dramatic late equaliser, while a second 2-2 stalemate against the University of Exeter highlighted their defensive solidity. They capped the month with a hard-fought
1-0 victory over Wimbledon’s 2s, thanks to a clinical strike from Yasmin Thomas.

Sevenoaks women’s 2s experienced a turbulent run in November. Despite a 3-1 loss to league leaders Teddington, they bounced back to secure a 2-0 win over Canterbury with a dominant display. However, their form faltered against Old Georgians, suffering a heavy 5-0 defeat.

Knole Park women dominated proceedings, registering a commanding 5-0 win over Epsom and a 4-2 victory against Oxted. Their relentless attack continued with a 4-1 triumph against Holcombe’s second team, cementing their position as title contenders.

The Sevenoaks men’s 1s team showcased their attacking flair in a high-scoring 4-4 thriller with Teddington. A 4-2 loss to the University of Exeter revealed defensive vulnerabilities however, but they responded emphatically with a 4-1 victory over Havant.

Tunbridge Wells men’s 1s had a challenging month, with a 3-3 draw against Brighton & Hove being their only point. Narrow defeats to Spencer (3-2) and London Wayfarers (1-0) reflected their struggle to convert chances into points.

West Kent teams continue to show promise across multiple divisions, blending resilience and attacking flair.
