HC Knole Park adult’s teams continue their excellent start to the season!

HC Knole Park’s adult’s teams all picked up three points over the weekend as they continued their fantastic starts to the season. The Men’s 1s travelled to Gore Court where they won 8-2, the Women’s 2s beat Blackheath & Elthamians 7-2 in a 1st v 2nd battle, and the Women’s 1s ran out convincing 18-0 winners against Folkestone.

In the juniors the U14B Girls and U14A Boys were both in action, and the U16 Boys and U18 Girls indoor teams progressed to the Regional Finals.

The Women’s 1s were the biggest winners of the weekend as they beat Folkestone 2s 18-0 on Saturday. Lottie Bingham was on fire as she scored a hat-trick in just 15 minutes!

Alessia Turner, Amelie Allen, Jess Lewis and Charlotte Watkins were all outstanding coming through from midfield throughout the game as they created numerous chances for the young Knole Park team. Indeed, it was Turner and Watkins who combined for goal number four, before Amy Wakeham-Dawson smashed the ball home.

Bingham scored another hat-trick before half-time from a penalty corner, a backhand and after good work from Turner and Allen. Lewis was also on the score sheet as she scored twice too to take the score to 9-0 at the break.

The second half was more of the same as Bingham scored another five goals to take her tally to eleven (11) for the day! Lewis, Turner, and Watkins all with the assists. Co-captain, Allen also scored herself a hat-trick in the second half. Her first was an absolute rocket of a backhand, the second was another assist from Watkins and the third was after good work in the D from Bingham.

Turner finally got herself on the scoresheet in the final few minutes after some outstanding work in midfield, linking up with Bingham before rolling the ball into the empty goal. An 18-0 win and an outstanding performance from all the team!

The Women’s 2s were playing Blackheath and Elthamians 4s who were the only other unbeaten side in the league. It was Blackheath who scored the first goal as a defensive mix-up left the visiting forward with an open goal. This helped Knole Park spring into life and Ruth Bingham equalised moments later.

Phoebe Gough-Cooper then gave Knole Park a 2-1 lead from a penalty corner. In the second half Knole Park were able to dominate more and goals from Aurelia Nadal (2), Ella Walker, Farrah Hilden and another from Gough-Cooper saw the team win 7-2 which keeps them top of the league.

The Men’s 1s were excellent once again as they travelled to play Gore Court Men’s 3s. In a steady start both sides had opportunities before Duncan Parnis scored a penalty corner for 1-0. The second goal was a beautiful sweeping move from defence to attack as Michael Holness played in Noah Marsden Powell. His floated ball to Oscar Osbaldeston was taken in stride before he rounded the final defender, before putting the ball on a plate for Matt Goodwin. 2-0.

In the second half there was excellent play from Knole Park, and two more penalty corners from Parnis and Goodwin respectively, a thunder strike from Benedict Cannon and a cool finish from Mackenzie Copp after a mazy run from Parnis gave the boys an 8-2 win.

The U14B Girls beat Canterbury U14B, whilst the U14A Boys went down 2-1 to Holcombe. Jude Ellis with the goal for Knole Park. The U16 Boys and U18 Girls indoor teams both progressed to the South East Regional Finals with Canterbury HC.

This weekend HC Knole Park’s Men’s 1st team host Blackheath & Elthamians 4s, the Women’s 1s travel to Holcombe, and the Women’s 2s play New Beccehamians 3s.

It’s also England Hockey Cup Round 3 weekend with all Knole Park sides in action. The U14A and U16A Girls both play Sevenoaks, whilst the U18A Girls travel to Canterbury. The U16B Girls are heading to East Grinstead and the U16A Boys play Canterbury. It promises to be a very exciting weekend!
