Girls school wins swimming Championships

Walthamstow Hall has become the best girls’ school for swimming in Kent for the first time, after winning the KSSA Secondary Schools’ Individual Championships.

Teams from 24 schools competed in the girls’ event at Hartsdown Pool in Margate, on Saturday 12th January. The top three teams were:

  1. Walthamstow Hall – 63 points
  2. Dane Court Grammar – 45 points
  3. Weald of Kent Grammar – 41 points

Walthamstow Hall was well-represented, with 15 swimmers competing in 24 individual events. Those representing the school were: Lilie Chambers, Isabella Childs, Millie Childs, Amber Cockburn, Leané Du Toit, Emma Evans-Wilson, Fern Gray, Amelia Longmate, Edith Norton, Madeleine Politzer, Imogen Stoddart, Emilia Vorster, Katie Vowell, Jasmine Wallace and Laura Wright.

All of them produced excellent times and performed outstandingly on the day to help their school win the Girls’ Shield. Walthamstow Hall girls placed in the top three in ten of their 24 events. Emilia Vorster won gold in the Intermediate 100m Butterfly and Emma Evans-Wilson won gold in the Senior 100m Freestyle. There were a further five silver and three bronze medals.
