West Kingsdown Boxing Club staged their 3rd show of the season, entitled Friday Fight Night, at the end of March. A decent crowd packed into the West Kingsdown Village Hall to see 14 evenly matched bouts (three of which were skills) and all going the distance.
New European silver medallist Ellie Scotney was in attendance to present trophies. Ten year old Zak Attard and Christopher Casey together with 15 year old Henrijs Muizneiks all performed very well in their first skills contests.
Joe Lee got the competitive bouts underway with a close but unanimous points win against David Miller (Cricklewood). Miller edged the first round however, in a high-quality bout Lee stepped it up in the second and third to get the club off to a winning start.
Kieran Moran making his West Kingsdown debut boxed at range to keep the game Mitchell Garmey (Guildford City) at bay with his long shots and good footwork. Moran ran out a clear unanimous winner.
Another boxer making his bow in a West Kingsdown vest was Teddy Abbott who was involved in a real thriller against Anthony McDonagh (Churchills). This tactical affair had the crowd on their feet with the two southpaws showing real quality. In the end Abbott’s greater experience saw him home by a unanimous decision and deservedly awarded bout of the night.
Boxer of the night award went to the host’s Tyler Davies-Grant with another unanimous points win over Harry March (Fight 2 Fitness). Davies-Grant picked his shots cleverly at range making it 4 out of 4 for the club on the night.
The coaches were very happy with all of their boxers’ performances and are looking forward to hosting one more show before the end of the season.
