FA Cup fever hits kent!

The FA Cup First Qualifying Round took place over the weekend for both the men’s and the women’s competitions. Corinthian upset Punjab United on the road after captain Jamie Billings secured their place in the next round with a goal in the 79th minute.

They will play away at Ashford United on Saturday 14th September. Larkfield & New Hythe managed a well deserved one all draw at home to Cray Wanderers and will be looking to extend their run with a replay on Tuesday evening.

Over in the women’s competition, Tunbridge Wells Foresters completed their first ever FA Cup match with a resounding 10-1 victory over AFC Whyteleafe. Annabel Stokes scored seven, with Kelly Moran (2) and Orla Leech also getting on the scoresheet.

Sevenoaks Town travelled to Ashmount Leigh in Dorking for their fixture and came away with a 5-1 victory. Goals from Hannah Cleary (2), Ellie George, Natalie Graves, and 16 year old Matilda Noble scoring her first senior goal for Sevenoaks.

Aylesford also secured their place in the next round after beating Richmond Park 5-0 on the road. Rebecca Keyte (2), Imogen Armstrong, Kara Richardson, and Alex Witham all on the scoresheet. Tonbridge Angels and Kings Hill both departed the cup at this stage, losing to South London and Croydon respectively.

Aylesford, Sevenoaks, and Foresters all received £1,800 in prize money with a guarantee of a further £750 in the next round.
