Excellent weekend of hockey at HC Knole Park!

HC Knole Park’s adult sides claimed a clean sweep of wins this weekend as the Women’s 1st team won 16-0, the Women’s 2nd team won 5-0 and the Men’s 1st team bounced back from defeat last week to win 5-3. HC Knole Park’s minis also took to their first matches too.

In the Women’s 1st team match the team were on fire hitting in 16 unanswered goals in a one-sided win. New Beccehamians 1st team had also been promoted last season with Knole Park, but it was the return of England U18 star Lottie Bingham who scored an amazing hat-trick in 5 minutes against New Beccehamians that set the tone for the match. Amy Wakeham-Dawson was also in superb form as she scored twice in the first half and added three more in the second half for her 5 goals. Bingham scored another two goals in the first half to make it five, and Charlotte Watkins scored to make it 8-0 at the break. In the second half Amelie Allen scored a hat-trick, Alessia Turner was provider of many and scorer of one, and Watkins hit an absolute rocket for her second of the match, and to seal an amazing 16-0 win. The Women’s 2nd team received a 5-0 walkover from Cliftonville 2s.

In the Men’s 1st team, it was a much-improved performance against Sittingbourne HC to give the team their first points of the season. It was Sittingbourne who opened the scoring after a mix-up in defence. However, Duncan Parnis scored almost immediately from the restart to make it 1-1. The match was very even, but a penalty corner strike from Parnis gave the team a 2-1 win at half-time. Knole park’s men made the perfect start to the second half as Ted Jones superbly deflected a high ball into the goal to make it 3-1, before Oscar Osbaldeston tapped home to make it 4-1. This started a flurry of goals as Sittingbourne scored two quick goals either side of Parnis scoring his third of the match. 5-3 it finished in a very well natured match.

On Sunday the club’s minis played their first matches of the season. The U10 Boys travelled to Burnt Ash where they also played Ashford. Goals from Josh Moodie (13 goals) and Jamie Ching (6).
