Emirates FA Cup joy for three local teams!

Corinthian, Larkfield & New Hythe, and Sevenoaks Town all booked their place in the next round of the Emirates FA Cup all winning by the slightest of margins over their opponents. Rusthall will have to do it all again on Tuesday night whilst Snodland Town and Tunbridge Wells are out of the race at the first hurdle.

Saturday’s Emirates FA Cup Extra-Preliminary Round saw five West Kent sides take to the pitch in the hope of starting their own cup run, and step 4 side Sevenoaks Town, who play in the Isthmian South East Division, were up against new manager Marcel Nimani’s old club Whitstable Town.

With a brand-new squad, Sevenoaks took the lead in the fourth minute through Man of the Match Kiye Martin with a stupendous shot. Whitstable equalised in the 15th minute, but Rodney Eruotor then gave Sevenoaks the lead again in the 20th minute.

And that’s how the match stayed until the final whistle. Plenty of chances for both sides, and three yellow cards shown, Sevenoaks will now play at home to Leatherhead in the next round.

Corinthian welcomed SCEFL Division 1 side AFC Whyteleafe to Gay Dawn Farm, and two goals in two minutes were enough to separate the sides as the home club secured their place in the Preliminary Round with another home tie against Camberley Town.

Mefose Esumobi opened the scoring in the 18th minute before Callum Keeble added another 60 seconds later.

Larkfield & New Hythe were playing their very first FA Cup match in the clubs 63-year history, and they were drawn at home to fellow SCEFL Premier Division side Kennington.

Two goals in the first half from Jay Wade (29′) and Alvin Turyatemba (31′) were enough to see them through to play at home once again versus Lingfield from the Southern Combination Football League.

Rusthall will have to do it all over again against Sheerwater after they secured a replay with a Robbie Bissett goal in the 90th minute to make it 1-1 on Saturday afternoon. The match will take place at Jockey Farm on Tuesday evening at 7.45pm.

Tunbridge Wells were one of the the first West Kent casualties of this year’s FA Cup after a 3-1 home defeat by Farnham Town. Wells took the lead through James White in the 25th minute, but it wasn’t enough as Farham Town scored three goals for the win. They were joined by Snodland Town who lost away to Punjab United 2-0.
