Deadlock at Hythe but the matches keep on coming

A point apiece and a clean sheet were two positive aspects from this goalless stalemate at sunny Reachfields Stadium in Hythe.

The draw extended Sevenoaks Town’s unbeaten record in the Isthmian League South East Division matches between the two sides in seven meetings since Oaks won promotion in 2018.

Yahya Bamba had Oaks’ two best chances, denied both times by home keeper Aaron Lee-Wharton early and late in the contest.

Bamba’s first sight on goal came in the third minute – the second a minute from time – following a quick break down the left – one of the best moves of the game.

In between Ryan Gondoh fired over after a bit of trickery on the edge of the box, while Freddie Parker saw his shot deflected four minutes after the break.

Meanwhile, Sevenoaks’ goalkeeper Tyler McCarthy was hardly tested in open play – collecting his third shut-out of the season, operating behind a solid back four display with left back Tola Jonah earning praise from boss Harry Hudson for his display after making his first start of the season.

Hudson made changes in the closing stages sending on Ryan Palmer, Daniel Hector and Kyle De Silva in a swift triple change, but the deadlock could not be broken.

Sevenoaks head straight into their third game in six days as Chatham Town visit on Bank Holiday Monday at the Bourne Sport stadium in a 3.00pm kickoff.

Sevenoaks Town: Tyler McCarthy, Dami Olorunnisomo (Ryan Palmer 80 mins),Tola Jonah, Emmanuel Mensa, Matthew Weaire, Corey Holder, Ryan Gondoh (Daniel Hector (84 mins), Freddie Parker, Bradley Wilson (Kyle De Silva 84 mins), Yahya Bamba.
