At the end of March, Sevenoaks Vine, Kent and England cricketer, Sam Billings shaved off all his hair in support of our wonderful NHS heroes across the country.
The #shavedonatenominate is a national Instagram campaign to show support for the wonderful work our NHS continue to do during the Coronavirus crisis, with the aim to raise as much funds as possible to help towards personal protective clothing and equipment for NHS staff.
The campaign has already raised over thirteen thousand pounds and you can still make a donation via their Virgin media fundraising page ‘Shave Donate Nominate’.
ECB still to decide
The ECB have announced a delay to the professional cricket season with the board agreeing that no professional cricket will be played in England and Wales before 28 May.
They added that it was also suspending all forms of the recreational game indefinitely including training, pre-season friendlies and any associated cricket activity.
This unfortunately encompasses both the All Stars Cricket and Dynamos Cricket programmes as well.
However, they have also said that they are providing a £61 million package to help cricket withstand the financial impact of COVID-19, with financial assistance available at every level of the game – across counties, boards and clubs.
Andy Richardson, Sevenoaks Vine’s Chairman said: “Things are changing so fast and I’ve given up trying to predict what’s coming next. We are awaiting a declaration from the ECB and Kent Cricket on whether we get a half season or no season at all.
“In the meantime we have follow the rules, stick together as a community, as a club and weather the storm such that we come out the other side of this intact and viable.
“I’m sure in nearly 300 years of the club’s history it has seen many similar challenges and pulled through.”
