Chipstead Sailing Club held their 2018 Open Day on the first Bank Holiday Monday in May and it was great to see so many people turnout on such a wonderful day.
The club, which was founded over 65 years ago, is run by its volunteer members who nurture a lifelong love of sailing, and they welcomed all to the club, whether you were seven or 107!
It was fun for all on the lake as adults and children alike learnt how to sail for the first time.
It was a great opportunity for budding sailors to meet existing club members and learn about the various dinghies that are regularly sailed at the club.
They also offered free membership to anyone who wanted to join on the day, plus refreshments and lunch was being served on their terrace in the sunshine. They then held a ‘Parade of Sail’ pursuit race in aid of the RNLI.
They hold a Saturday Junior Club every Saturday morning and the Chipmates Summer Camp runs for three days from July 30th.
The club also has sailing for disabled people, model yachting, canoeing and the Sea Cadets.
So, if you were unable to attend the Open Day and want to get involved with sailing then you can still learn more about the opportunities for adults and children wanting to learn how to sail at the club, simply contact the club through their website at www.chipsteadsc.org.uk.
