Charitable Circuit of Kent to go ahead for 22nd year

The 22nd running of the annual Circuit of Kent charitable event, will take place on Sunday 8th September 2019.

This was one of the original cycling events now often known as a Cyclo Sportive, which are now so popular across the country. Organised and run over those 21 years by The Amherst Rotary Club Sevenoaks and their supporters and volunteers, they look to raise money for Macmillan, Hospice in the Weald, and one or two minor local charities.

This personal cycle challenge will take riders around the beautiful Kent countryside, and has routes for families, casual riders & the enthusiasts. Cycle clubs and corporate teams also meet up and take part. The route is signposted, has marshals, feeding points, support vehicles & mechanics, and medals for those that meet their time target. It is expected that over 500 riders and their supporters from across Kent, East Sussex, London and the entire South East region, will park up with ample space in the beautiful grounds of Sevenoaks Preparatory School.

The start/finish line is at the school, and there are good opportunities to take photos and chat to the gathering participants and as they depart over the start line from 08:00 to 10:30.

Riders begin to return to the finish line from 11:00, where they can relax and recover with a meal, live music and the camaraderie of other exhausted riders, and pick up their medal. Two miles out from the Finish line, Carters Hill provides one of the top challenges in these events, being a long spectacular gradient back up onto the green sand ridge, really challenging some of the best riders, and then they are home.

The distances on offer are 130k, 80k and 40k, and you can now sign up online, have a great day out and raise funds for good causes. Search for Circuit of Kent for further details and to get registered.

The 2018 event was a real blast and you can read about it at at It featured young contenders, specially adapted wheelchair bikes and city gentleman on Boris bikes. They can’t promise the Boris bikes for 2019, but they are sure that families and the wheelchair bikers will be back.
