Boxing club still punching well at 40

Sevenoaks Amateur Boxing Club has now been running for 12 years under the ownership of Paul Lynch and more recently his nephew Andrew Knight.

Originally it was formed in 1977 by John Hart and the now late Dave Cotton. Paul came from Bermondsey to Sevenoaks and boxed for the club to which he now owns and fought over 60 bouts, winning Aba titles.

His nephew Andrew also won title belts and narrowly missed out winning a gold medal at the 2016 Haringey Cup due to a head injury in the semi final win that forced doctors to not allow the match to happen.

Sevenoaks Amateur Boxing Club operate out of a 2,000 square foot space at the Gaza Trading Estate in Weald. With an 18ft ring and 12 bags along with apparatus and fitness equipment it is a very well equipped gym for members to use.

They run open sessions on a Monday and Wednesday for juniors from 5.30pm until 7.00pm for ages 11-16 and then from 7.00pm to 9.00pm for all seniors. All abilities are welcome along with carded boxers on those evenings.

They also run group and 1-2-1 sessions throughout the week including a ‘Fat-Dads’ session on Saturday and Sunday mornings, however both are currently running at capacity.
For more information about the club and how to join, please contact Paul Lynch or Peter Warden on 07939 707333 or 07825 241589.
