Football’s cup run extended

A number of Sevenoaks District football clubs are looking forward to extending their cup runs at the start of the year as league matches take a back seat in January.

Kent County Football League (KCFL) Premier side Ide Hill will take on Minster in the quarter finals of the KCFL Inter-Regional Challenge Cup whilst West Kingsdown take on Tankerton in the KCFL Les Leckie Cup quarters and Otford United Reserves travel to Bayern Neverlusen (or Blackheath to you and I) for a similar tie in the KCFL West Kent Challenge Shield.

Meanwhile in the Kent Junior Cups, Otford United Reserves will go on the road once more as they visit Lokomotiv Canterbury (I’m really not making these teams up!) in Group A. In Group B, Westerham travel to Bromley Green and Eynsford visit Selhurst, whilst AFC Green Court Reserves host Roselands and West Kingsdown Reserves welcome Ham Hill Athletic in Group C.

Sevenoaks Charity Cups
The Sevenoaks Junior Charity Cup has already made it to the quarter finals stage with the following fixtures expected to be played in January: AFC Green Court v St. Lawrence Reserves; Woodlands or Westerham Reserves v Ide Hill 3rd; Cuxton 1991 v Swanley Rangers or TJFC Seniors and Five Oak Green v Cudham United.
Elsewhere, Chipstead, Eynsford, Halstead, St. Lawrence, Westerham and West Kingsdown are all still in the hat for the Senior Cup after a delayed start in the competition.

Sevenoaks League Cups
Local sides have reached the semi-finals in the following Sevenoaks & District Football League cup competitions:
• Smiths Senior (Premier Division): St. Lawrence and Westerham.
• Smiths Premier (Division One): Eynsford, Ide Hill 3rd, Leigh and Penshurst Park.
• Smiths Intermediate (Division Two): Seal.
• Smiths Junior (Division 3): Kemsing United Reserves and Cudham United.
• The Derek Hodge Trophy (Division Four): AFC Green Court Reserves, Swanley and Westerham Reserves.

We wish all the clubs the best of luck as they progress in each competition.
