17 swimmers qualify for National Championships

The Qualifying Window for the British Summer Championships and the Swim England National Championships 2019 opened on 22nd March 2019 and closed on Monday 27th May. Keiron Piper, the Head Coach of Sevenoaks Swimming Club is proud to announce that 17 swimmers have qualified across both championships.

Following the closure of the qualifying period, the top 24 ranked swimmers in Great Britain in each event/age group are invited to compete at the British Summer Championships. The next 20 ranked swimmers are then invited to compete in their selected Home Nations Summer Champs, (English, Scottish or Welsh) .

This year, the British Summer Championships will be held at the Tollcross pool in Glasgow between 23rd and ‪28th July. The British female qualifiers from Sevenoaks are : Eva Okaro (50 & 100 Free, 50 & 100 Fly, 50Breast), Maddy Glen (100 & 200 Breast) and Imogen Stoddart (50 Breast). Our Male qualifiers are:  ‪Louis Hayes (50, 100 & 200Free, 50 & 100Fly, 50Back, 50Breast and 200IM), Jacob Hudson (50, 100 & 200Breast) and Nathan Rodrigues (50Free).

To qualify for these championships is an achievement in itself. These swimmers are amongst the best in Great Britain, but to have 3, 5 and 8 events respectively at the British Summer Champs shows the tremendous talent of Jacob, Eva and Louis.

The next 20 swimmers in their respective age groups and events have qualified for the Swim England National Summer Meet, which will be held at Ponds Forge in Sheffield between ‪31st July to 4th August. Sevenoaks’ qualifiers are: Eva Okaro (200m free, 50m back, 100m breast & 200m IM), Lilie Chambers (50m fly, 50m & 100m free), Milllie Childs (50m, 100m & 200m back), Maddy Glen (50m breast), Elspeth Watson (200m fly),  Izabella Okaro (100m back), Jasmine Wallace (1500m free), Kara Dimond (100m breast). Aiden McMillan (50m, 100m & 200m fly), Zachary Raymond (50m, 100m & 200m free), ‪Louis Hayes (100m & 200m back), Nathan Rodrigues (100m free & fly), Euan Terry (100m breast & 200m fly), Jaedon Lynch (50m breast) and Oliver Coote (100m breast).

Qualification for the English Nationals is no mean feat, considering the vast level of competition across the country. The hard training now continues in the weeks ahead. The swimmers and coaches are looking forward to some top level racing, which will be live streamed from the British Swimming and Swim England websites.
