100-ball Smash tournament enters semi finals and finals week

The 100-ball Smash Tournament Finals Day is nearly here, but before it all takes place at Sevenoaks Vine, we have the small matter of working out who will be in attendance.

Taking their marks in the Cup competition is Tunbridge Wells Royals versus Bromley Bears, and Dartford Hesketh Heat versus Sevenoaks Orbs.

If seeded, then Tunbridge Wells Royals would be in primary position given their final group standings and their win over two-time champions Holmesdale Stallions. Next is Dartford Hesketh Heat followed by Sevenoaks Orbs then Bromley Bears. Whoever makes the finals day though is sure of a challenging match on Sunday 23rd July.

In the Plate competition Bromley Town take on Beckenham Bees, whilst Tonbridge Knights face local opponents Cowdrey Courage. Bromley Town and Tonbridge Knights are favourites to make the final after quarter final wins over Gravesend RF and Kings Hill, respectively.

The Bowl competition will open finals day and still in contention are the Bidborough Badgers who take on Shoreham & Otford Darenth Valiants, whilst the Sevenoaks Sixers face Chislehurst and West Kent.

Sevenoaks Sixers look more likely to make the final based on their results so far in the tournament, however the other semi-final is too close to call after both teams successfully navigated their way through the quarter-finals.

Quarter final results:
The Cup: Sevenoaks Vine Jazzers (108/7) lost to Bromley Bears (160/4); Sevenoaks Orbs (146 all out) beat Maidstone Oilers (138/8); Holmesdale Stallions (160/6) lost to Tunbridge Wells Royals (166/4); Dartford Hesketh Heat (135/5) beat Fawkham Guzzlers (94 all out).

• The Smash Finals Day takes place at Sevenoaks Vine Cricket Club on Sunday 23rd July starting at 10.00am with the Bowl Final. The Plate Final will commence at around 1.00pm with the Cup Final following at around 4.00pm.

The weather looks fair, and the bar will be open, so why not pop along for a day of 600 balls of cricket and relax.
