Sevenoaks Town Football Club are celebrating after their women’s 1st team clinched the South East Counties Womens Football League (SECWFL) Premier Division title with a game to spare.
Sevenoaks faced a progressive Cray Wanderers side at home on Sunday and goals from Hannah Cleary and Chloe Jardine were enought to secure a 2-1 win and the Premier title. With their last game of the season scheduled for Sunday 6th April away at Tonbridge Angels; Sevenoaks now have four weeks to prepare for their season finale.
An imppressive season has so far seen Sevenoaks Town win 14 of their 17 matches, with one draw, and just two losses. They have scored 63 goals whilst letting in just 22 over the 17 games.
Ellie George sits at the top of the goalscoring charts for Town with 19 goals, with Sarah White on 16 (albeit this includes goals scored for Maidstone United as well), and Cleary on eight.
Well done ladies, top achievement and we look forward to seeing where you venture next year.
The SECWFL Chairman’s Cup Final has been scheduled for Sunday 27th April at The Gallagher Stadium in Maidstone, and will feature Tunbridge Wells Foresters 2nd who fought to a 1-0 win in their semi-final over Biddenden.
They will face Division 1 West rivals Petts Wood in a 10.30am kick-off where they will be hoping to bring back the league form which saw Foresters win 2-0 recently. With just one more league game for Petts Wood between now and the final, fitness and energy are going to be key for the eventual Cup winners.
