Football season finishes with a wimper!

It was the final weekend for many football teams across West Kent at the weekend, many with nothing to play for as their season had finished earlier in the month.

Tonbridge Angels, Sevenoaks Town, Tunbridge Wells, Corinthian, and Larkfield & New Hythe all played out their last games, knowing that they will return to their respective divisions after all finishing in mid-table positions. All clubs had a relatively mild season, but they will be back to challenge for silverware come August.

Meanwhile, Rusthall had a slight sniff at the Southern Counties East (SCEFL) playoff places but they were ultimately thwarted after a 0-0 match at home to league champions Faversham, whilst Punjab United secured a win to take the final spot.

At the other end of the table, it was not to be Snodland Town’s day either, after losing 2-1 away at Kennington, securing Snodland’s relegation – and return – to SCEFL Division One.

Elsewhere, Tunbridge Wells Foresters Women’s 2nd team (pictured above) had a cup final to look forward to in the glorious sunshine at the Gallagher Stadium, home to Maidstone United. Unfortunately for the travelling fans, the sunshine was to be the only bright light on an otherwise forgetful day.

A Rebecca Mackley penalty was not enough to secure the South East Counties Women’s Football League (SECWFL) Chairman’s Cup, as they succumbed to a fiery Petts Wood, losing 6-1 on the day.

The day also marked Manager Stuart Newman’s last game in charge, he said on X: “My last game as a @twforesters coach/manager after 600 plus matches for this amazing club. Gonna miss it!”.

Sevenoaks Town Women also collected their SECWFL Premier Division medals after the final.
