Aiming for gold in Athens: Sevenoaks instructors set to shine at European Kickboxing Championships!

Excitement is building at Miles Martial Arts as two of its dedicated kickboxing instructors prepare to represent Team GB at the upcoming European Kickboxing Championships. Taking place at the iconic Olympic Stadium in Athens, Greece, from November 1st to 10th, the event will bring together some of the finest kickboxing talent from across Europe.

Instructors Benn Fillingham from Sevenoaks and Alex Chalke from Hildenborough have both earned their spots on the national team through years of hard work, discipline, and an unwavering commitment to the sport. Their selection underscores not only their individual skills but also the strength of the training and support they receive at Miles Martial Arts.

Benn Fillingham, 24, from Sevenoaks, is known for his exceptional skills in both Taekwon-do and Kickboxing. He’ll be competing in the Seniors under 54kg Full Contact category, where he aims to make a strong impression with his dynamic fighting style. Alex Chalke, a seasoned competitor and passionate instructor, will be fighting in the Veterans Male +94kg Light Contact division. Having earned a bronze medal at last year’s World Kickboxing Championships, he’s determined to surpass his previous performance and bring home the gold.

“It’s an incredible opportunity to represent Team GB,” said Benn. “We’ve trained tirelessly, and we’re ready to give it our all. We hope to make our community proud and inspire the next generation of kickboxers.”

“It’s such an absolute honor to represent your country,” added Alex. “Walking out onto the world stage, knowing that our friends, family, and students will be cheering us on, is an unimaginable feeling.”

The European Kickboxing Championships is expected to attract top-tier competitors from various nations, all eager to display their talents and compete at the highest level. As part of Team GB, Benn and Alex will not only represent themselves but also serve as ambassadors for the sport, promoting camaraderie and sportsmanship.

“We couldn’t be prouder of Benn and Alex,” said Richard Miles, Founder and Chief Instructor at Miles Martial Arts. “Their passion for kickboxing and dedication to their students make them outstanding representatives for Team GB. We’re thrilled to see them shine on the international stage. Having not just one, but two of our instructors compete on such a prestigious platform is a testament to their hard work, dedication, and the commitment of our entire club.”
